May 17th Covid Up-Date

Dear Member
As from May 17th various restrictions will be eased.

The Clubhouse will be open and members will be able to use the coffee machine and sit inside whilst enjoying a drink.

May we remind you all that THE WEARING OF A MASK is still mandatory whilst moving around in the Clubhouse.

The rule of 6 applies when seated and social distance should be maintained.

The changing rooms may be used if absolutely necessary but the showers are not to be used.

No General Changes

The news is great and full court squash is once again permitted without the requirement for modified versions of the game or 'bubbles'. Group coaching and club competitions are also permitted, and the leagues will be reinstated in due course.

There are still some restrictions including the requirement to wear face masks when inside the clubhouse but not on the courts, maintain social distancing, obey the rule of six,  and the need to clean touch points as before. The full guidance can be found here, and some of the key points are repeated below.

Players can get on court with multiple households and play full court squash e.g. best of five with tie-breaks, and singles and doubles (squash bubbles and modified versions not required).

England Squash have made some amendments to the current guidance. Whilst the guidance is relatively unaffected, key action points from the Government guidance which specifically relate to squash and tailored for DLTSC are:

1. Hand hygiene, thorough washing and sanitising remains the most effective method of preventing the spread of COVID-19. Players must sanitise hands and disinfect balls before play, at 20-minute intervals, and at the end.
2. Numbers in a coach-led group should follow the maximum capacity of the club/venue AND maximum court numbers for both adults and children which are four adults/six juniors. This will be managed by Jeremy.
3. The number of spectators allowed on the viewing balcony is 10 – and spectators must continue to socially distance and wear face coverings whilst inside the club/venue.

In view of the above, courts will again be blocked off for junior and senior club nights, along with the Wednesday morning group session.

We will also be removing the ‘fallow’ courts which will mean booking times will revert to normal (pre-Covid).  If you have any forward bookings, they will automatically be deleted.  Please re-book to your convenience and email Janet on for a credit to your squash account.

If you are interested in playing in any of the weekly group sessions, please email Jeremy so that numbers can be managed and he has an oversight of squash activity.

Masks MUST be worn at ALL times in the clubhouse except when seated at a table.  Please use the hand sanitiser when entering the clubhouse.

Please stand behind the yellow/black tape when ordering your drinks at the bar.  Only card payments will be accepted.

Drinks will be delivered to a designated table for collection, so please give your name to the bar staff when ordering.

Please return any empty glasses and bottles to the designated table.

Only groups of 6 or 2 households are permitted inside.

Please respect staff and other members and ensure that you observe social distancing rules.

To enable the bar staff to clean and tidy up before closing, last orders will be taken 15 minutes before closing time.

Thank you for your support of the club.
