Sad News...

Hello Everyone

We have received the sad news that Jim Cattermole has recently passed away. We send our condolences to his family and friends.

His wife, Ann, gives details below of a celebration of Jim’s life, followed by some words from his friend, Eric Thornton.

Arnold Jager
Chairman DLTSC

From Ann:
Despite Jim saying many times that he did not want any sort of wake we (my daughters ) and I have decided to be disobedient and have a Celebration of Jim's life after all!

This will be held at Betchworth Park Golf Club on Wednesday 16th November from 1.30pm. All will be most welcome to come along and share with us any memories you have of Jim and to raise a glass or two to our beloved husband and father.

For catering purposes please could any RSVP's come to me (Ann) on: anniemole007@gmail.com or phone 01306883629 or 07979880833.

Eric’s words:
Jim was a very longstanding member of DLTSC until 13th October when he sadly passed away. He was club chairman for 5 years.

Jim was a county class squash player and captain of the squash club 1st team during the 1980s. In those days we had 6 divisions dropping to five and a half in the summer. Each of these divisions had 8 leagues each holding eight groups. That is over 500 players which makes some 250 or so matches each month. Jim was also the club squash champion in 1986.

In recent years Jim suffered from wonky knees so had dropped out of the leagues and only played friendly games but he occasionally dropped in wearing his colourful cap (I think he only removed it when on court) to support the first team and, of course, down a pint and have a chat (he certainly enjoyed a chat) with his friends.

Jim will be badly missed by his many friends.
