Brian's Newsletter.....

Hi Everyone
What an amazing week on the courts. Makes such a difference when the sun is shining. The down side for me is, I took myself down for a summer haircut ( which seems to be taking less time each visit!) My hair always cushions my hats, but now with less hair, the hat moves my glasses as I move! Can't tell you how annoying it is!
French Open getting closer to the finals. Joe Salisbury (Surrey) has just won the mixed doubles. Alfie Hewett wins wheelchair singles for the 3rd time...
Pavlyuchenkova beats Zidansek, Krejcikova meets Sakkari in the other semi.
Zverev v Tsitsipas & Nadal v Djokovic tomorrow.
Grass court season started in Nottingham... Brits doing ok...
Club News
Our club tournament is nearing its final stages too. Keep getting your matches played. Finals day Saturday 26th June (Put it in your diary)
You can now see the draws on the club website, but here is the link fyi...
Box leagues will be starting soon. Dathan has sent out the details for entry. You can play: Mixed singles, men's doubles, mixed doubles and possibly ladies doubles if enough entries. A great chance to play different players and improve your game. Contact Dathan for details at
Well done ladies 2nds who beat Claygate recently. Congratulations Lucy, Juliette, Sam & Jenny.
Well done ladies 3rds who beat Redhill. Congratulations Rachel, Angie, Catherine & Sarah.
Great email from the club the other day looking for volunteers to maybe help with events or scenarios linked to the club. Don't hold back. Just do it! No pressure, just a bit of time to give. There must be some of you with better skills than your tennis! Let us all benefit from them!! I always volunteer verbals across the court when I've noticed you making an error... Quite freely. It's very satisfying!
Ladies Morning tournament coming up  Friday 25th June from 915am. Sign up on the club website asap. Lunch & refreshments as always.
Club sessions are going well.... Don't forget to sweep the courts  before the next session begins. There isn't a concierge sweeping service if they are not used!
Remember we have a new Improvers club session on Sunday afternoons for players that are maybe not quite strong enough for the other club sessions. A chance to meet new players of similar standard and get used to court positioning and match tactics. You can always chat to a coach for free advice or even book a lesson.... Although we are quite busy at the moment!
Quote of the Week

Cocktail of the Week

Annoying Member of the Week! (Can you imagine! )
Only Joking.... You're all great!
Love old Boris Johnson getting in trouble again for taking a plane to the G7 summit with climate change high on the agenda!
Best Alcoholic Drinks For a Diet!

Coaching Tip of the Week
When you are playing singles it may be a bit dull, but it is effective to hit down the middle. This reduces the angles for your opponent and also gives you quite big margins for your shot.
Bonus tip... Be lively.. Bring energy to the court.
Sending out hugs to our members who need it. I know a few going through a tougher time so we are thinking of you all.
And Finally.... We know you are all great, but this person is amazing and we are so proud to have her at our club. CLARE DAVIES with her team at Community Fridge. They have just been awarded The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service!!!!!! Amazing Achievement and massive congratulations. You see some of you have many skills most of us wouldn't know about!!!
Have a great week and enjoy the start of the Euros.. Good luck England (kind of!), Wales & particularly Scotland..... Will it be coming home?????
